MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 25, 2008 — Horses who coach humans to reach their potential will introduce equine-guided education to the Minnesota Coaches Association (MCA) and some members of the public on Saturday, Sept. 6, at a demo and workshop hosted by Wisdom Horse Coaching, a Twin Cities-based practice.
Sponsored by the MCA Social Action, Learning and Transformation Team, the event will be at Hawk’s Ridge Ranch, 457 County Road U, in Hudson, Wis. The morning session is from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (An afternoon session is already filled.) Fees are $45 for association members, $55 for non-members. Not all participants will directly interact with horses, but observers will be given directions that enable them to engage powerfully in the experience. Registration is at minnesotacoaches.org
The principle of equine-guided education is that horse-human interactions on the ground — there’s no riding involved — reflect the human’s behavior in everyday life. Through exercises such as getting horses to move from one end of the paddock to the other without lead lines or to perform low jumps, people develop insights that can help them achieve goals and reach their potential. Human coaches provide skilled observation and feedback.
Lynn Baskfield and Ann Romberg, owners of Wisdom Horse Coaching, will lead the demo and workshop. Both are certified life coaches, as well as certified equine-guided education coaches. They are members of the Equine Guided Education Association and the International Coach Federation. Their clients are in healthcare, education, insurance, banking and finance, energy, lumber and hospitality. Corporate clients include Wells Fargo, Medtronic and St. Paul Travelers Companies. Home base is Hawk's Ridge Ranch. They also conduct workshops at locations convenient to clients throughout the country and run an apprenticeship program.
The Minnesota Coaches Association is the premier professional association for over 260 life, business, executive and relationship coaches in Minnesota and neighboring states. Through its programs of education, personal development, and networking, it promotes the visibility and quality of professional coaching. Its members serve individuals, couples and companies throughout the Upper Midwest, supporting them in achieving their goals, transforming their relationships and fulfilling their dreams.
