FAQs

What is Equine Guided Education?
It’s experiential learning in which horses, with a little assistance from human coaches, guide clients to become more attuned to their strengths and challenges. Through interactive exercises with horses, people see more clearly how to achieve goals, reach their potential and lead full out, full-color lives.
Is this on horseback?
No, the interactive exercises are conducted on the ground.
Is every session the same?
Exercises are customized to meet the needs of an individual client or a corporate group. We do know there will always be plenty of aha! moments: Ohmygosh. This horse is ignoring my ideas the same way my (employees, boss, co-workers, spouse, children) do. Exercises depict a clear picture of real life situations to help clients easily see available options.
Why horses?
Horses are natural coaches. They are wise and intuitive animals, wired to be acutely aware of everything around them for their survival. They give immediate feedback without being judgmental. They won’t let us get away with kidding ourselves. They are honest mirrors of human behavior. They have no agenda. Most people find it easier to take feedback from a horse than from another person.
Would you describe a typical exercise?
Sure, here’s one: Convince a horse to move from one end of the paddock to the other without using a lead line or bribing the horse. If you’re unsure of yourself and where YOU want to go, the horse picks up on that and, most likely, will go nowhere until you demonstrate true leadership.
Does horse coaching really work?

Our clients report extraordinary and lasting results.

How long does it take to see results?

Learning begins immediately and can be applied immediately.

Why is Equine Guided Education so effective?
One reason is that it’s body centered. We’ve learned how to dismiss the wisdom of our bodies in this head-centered culture. This kind of learning teaches us to pay attention. Participants move their bodies in the arena or the pasture. They smell, touch, see, and hear the horses. The horse picks up what is congruent or incongruent in the person’s body through its own body and mirrors it for us to clearly see.

Is there an advantage to being an experienced rider?

Whether you have extensive experience with horses or none at all, EGE is equally effective.

What are some typical examples of issues or goals people bring to EGE?

For corporate groups: Leadership. Communication. Team building. Collaboration. Conflict resolution. Building respect and trust.

For individuals: Career transition. Life transition (divorce, death of spouse). Making a decision. Overcoming creative blocks. Conquering fears.
