MINNEAPOLIS, September 15, 2011 — Bringing fresh insights on horse-guided experiential learning to the table — er, make that the stable — this year’s Equine Guided Coaches Professional Development Circle is set for Nov. 14-15 at the St. Croix Training Center in Hudson, Wis.
The annual event is a gathering of 12 seasoned coaches who share experiences, discuss new ideas in the field, learn from each other about running a business, and consider the latest research into how horses can help humans reach their full potential, personally and professionally.
Although registration is limited, it’s open to any equine-guided learning coach with several years of experience.
Co-sponsors of the event are Ann Romberg and Lynn Baskfield of Twin Cities-based Wisdom Horse Coaching, and Beth Duff of The Red Horse Speaks, based in Scotland.
Interests and expertise of registered participants will determine the agenda for the event. Suggestions for agenda items, including presentations, are collected at the time of registration.
Romberg says veteran human coaches, like their four-legged coaching partners, need “herd” support. “This is our opportunity to gain perspective on our coaching careers. We spend two full days sharing with each other in a small-group setting, focusing on anything from new exercises we’ve developed to marketing practices. Working with each other and the horses in this casual setting is so energizing.”
In equine-guided experiential learning, humans individually or in groups interact with horses in ground exercises, facilitated by professional human coaches, to address personal or workplace issues and challenges. Horses are highly intuitive and reflect human behavior. Through guided exercises, people develop insights and problem-solving skills that can be applied immediately in their daily lives. For organizations, the approach can be a highly effective leadership development and team-building tool.
Cost of the event is $335 per coach and includes two lunches and a gourmet dinner.
